The 18 strong team – who have coined the name #PeakyClimbers for their expedition – will all be taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge in June, raising money for St Richard’s Hospice.
The trek will take place on Saturday 29 June until Sunday 30 June.
Matt Evans-Lacey, one of our Team Managers said : “At the start of the year, we decided – as a team – we would take on a challenge to push our boundaries. We decided on the Three Peaks Challenge as it will require every bit of physical and mental strength. For some, it’s an opportunity to give something back to St Richard’s Hospice and thank them for helping their families and loved ones through difficult times.”
Training is now in full swing for the participants; when completing the challenge those taking part will be expected to walk 5 hours without a break. The recommendation is to walk for 2 hours and build on this. The team’s training plan includes walking every other weekend including night walks to help them prepare for the walk at Scarfell Pike.
Alison Parkes, Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice said : “It is inspiring to see a team of colleagues come together to take on such a tough but fantastic challenge in support of hospice care.
“We are very grateful to the team for raising funds for St Richard’s. It is only thanks to the generosity of the community that the hospice can continue caring for patients and families when they need its services most.”
Laura Hall, who is taking part in the challenge said : “I am really passionate about supporting St Richard’s Hospice. My 80 year old grandfather volunteered for St Richard’s for a number of years in his 70s and was very much in awe about the fantastic work they did. He really loved his role there and this has inspired me to carry on doing the same.”
