Ethnicity to be celebrated at summer picnic

In partnership with Worcester City Council, we are organising the event in the city’s Cripplegate Park on Saturday 6 July from 10.00am until 2.30pm.

The event, which will be divided into two parts, will consist of a family walk and bike ride along the River Severn, with people meeting at 10.00am at the park’s main gate followed by a family picnic with an international twist from 12midday, infront of The Sons of Rest building, next to the bowling green.

Tom Piotrowski, our Diversity and Inclusion Advisor said : “This is the first time we have organised such an event and we are really looking forward to it.  We are asking people to bring along their own food which represents their culture; whether that is cucumber sandwiches, summery salads or other ethnic delicacies, we are inviting everybody to share their culinary traditions with other communities living in Worcester.

”Our aim is for the picnic to be a celebration of the city and its surrounding area in all its brilliant diversity.  The event will also be a fantastic way of getting ready for the Worcester Carnival parade which takes place in the afternoon in the city centre.

“Very much a family event, all ages are welcome and there will be plenty of fun activities and prizes to win.  We look forward to welcoming you!”

No booking is required and the event is free to attend.
