Alterations and Improvements To Your Home
If you are proposing to carry out an improvement or alteration to your home (other than internal redecoration or minor cosmetic changes), your tenancy agreement requires you obtain our permission before starting work. Please read the Schedule of Conditions for Customer Alterations 2019 - Fortis Living.pdf [pdf] 304KB
carefully and complete the form below giving as much information about the alterations as you can. Once we have received your completed form we will reply to you within 28 days informing you of our decision, subject to any appropriate conditions.
Occasionally we may refuse permission but we will tell you our reasons. Please do not begin the work until you have received permission in writing from us, as unauthorised work would need to be put back to its original condition at your own expense.
Please note; we are unable to grant permission if you are in breach of tenancy or in arrears. Requests for alterations will be considered from customers on Secure tenancies such as Assured General Needs or Fixed Term. We will also consider requests from customers on Starter tenancies although we may want to apply restrictions until your tenancy becomes secure.
If your property is a new build and less then 12 months old you will only be able to apply to install the following:
· a Digital TV Aerial or Standard/ Foreign Satellite Dish
· a Shed/Greenhouse
· laminate flooring
Please be advised that other alterations may invalidate the warranty of the building.
For more details please see Schedule of Conditions for Customer Alterations 2019 - Fortis Living.pdf [pdf] 304KB
NOTE: New Satellite dishes will not be permitted on blocks of flats or sheltered schemes.
Permission will not be granted for any alterations to communal areas or communal gardens (including the construction of sheds)
